Erika and Lisa undertook a two week residency at The Firkin Crane, Cork in August 2011. They spent the time exploring Identity and Integration through using writing as a creative tool:

The aim of the project was for both artists to investigate, examine and reflect upon their unfolding collaborative process. These artists met in 2009 whilst completing the MA in Contemporary Dance performance at the University of Limerick. Each artist has emerged from a unique dance experience and developed an individual identity which they wished to continue to question and explore. This residency was utilised as an opportunity to create a duet which simultaneously questioned individual identity in a collaborative context.
To bring this idea into physical existence we explored methods to help comprehend our own authentic selves and others. We investigated different methods of communication and collaboration:

1. Writing letters to one another on our feelings of the process
2. Using methods from Authentic Movement ‘Witnessing’ to watch each other improvise and feel connected.
3. Improvise together and then draw freely on a sheet of paper.
4. Each creating a set phrase each from the same stimulation and then blending them together.

The artists have documented the written material that emerged through letters and notes, which are available for sharing Firkin Crane Diary.
